Julie Holms has it all, if “all” means living in the shadow of her beautiful best friend, her obnoxious sister, and her bewilderingly-obsessed-with-wheatgerm Mummy. She’s got an eBay habit, a wardrobe that occupies dimensions bigger than her flat, and a coat everyone in Marketing thinks is very Last Year, but her life is about to become far too exciting by way of mysterious strangers on rooftops, That Cute One From Marketing, and possibly one or two things she thought only happened in the movies.

... like werewolves.

Tame edition by Melissa Snowdon Literature Fiction eBooks

This is a story about Julie Holms, her life, her friends, her family, a party she attends where she meets a rather unconventional woman, the trouble she gets into because of that, and somewhere in the latter part of the book a werewolf is spoken of.

It's a wonderfully written, cheeky book. I have never used the word cheeky to describe anything before, but in this case it definitely applies. The main character is quite self aware and the humour comes from her observations about her own obsessions and life in general.

Do not expect one of those action packed, politically driven, mystically powered, sexually aggressive, adventure stories. That isn't what this is. This is everyday life with a tiny, tiny touch of the paranormal thrown it.

5 stars. Recommended for anyone who enjoys a slice of life book and occasionally werewolves.

Tame edition by Melissa Snowdon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Not a genre I even thought existed before I'd read this (especially when you take the werewolf thing into account). Hilarious, with likeable characters and a very cute love story central. Unconventional and charming! Well worth a try if you're into any of the things in the title of my review.
I really enjoyed this book (and I read a lot of both paranormal romance and romantic comedies)- the heroine is believable, the supporting cast are interesting, the tone is chatty and somehow very comfortable, and I reach for this book in times of stress and annoyance.
Tame is a well-written go-to chicklit romcom you want to read it when you don't feel well, or when you're sad. Or, in this case, if you just want to read about lesbian werewolves being cute (I didn't know how much I wanted to read about that until I read Tame). I love the main character's casual, realistic style of narrating; the point of view bypasses the fact that it's a supernatural situation and makes it totally relatable, and I love it.
I wanted to like this book but it was difficult to read because the writing is informal to the point of meaningless chatter. Maybe some people will like this but I was disappointed that the writing got in the way of the story.
Seconding this as comfort reading! Relatable, realistic characters, happy queer ladies, and werewolves! Love it!
I'm not normally a fan of this genre of books, but this one is really funny with some brilliant unconventional twists. Also, it has the funniest use of footnotes this side of a Terry Pratchett book.
